Tracker’s delight

insert a cool mental picture, cool dudes with old computers, posing like badass rappers.
Or insert a rather cooler impulse tracker picture?

A screenshot of impulse trackerSome of you may have stumbled upon my articles about netlabels and how it all started. I will avoid covering this topic on my blog, the netlabel scene feels pretty far in my mind as i’ve been living an era of it that could have been called the “post tracking group period of naive friendship” ™

As a demoscene passivist, I’ve always found it pretty sad that many demoscener never heard about some trackers I’ve always found interesting, original and fresh compared to some others from the demoscene that were really… well, what did I say about not criticizing? ‘mkay.

Of course, I’ve had a bunch of arguments with many sceners about the two distinct scenes that are the tracking scene and the demoscene and while many demosceners I know told me that “there are no tracking scene”, it’s actually quite funny I knew a bunch of trackers that didn’t want to hear about the demoscene, mostly for some frustrations dealing with demoparties music compo preselection.
It’s ok guys, I know about them, preselections. Just think to yourself that some great guys got preselected as well (and in the lesser good, I’ve been preselected as well, insert sadface, forever alone, forever last on compos :)

I always wanted to take a bit of my spare time to write some small articles about some of my favourite trackers, just to share some nice modules to the world wide web. It’s also a good catharsis by remembering some good memories of nights spent in front of my computer, doing stuff, listening to some modules.

So let’s hope I’ll find some time in the coming weeks. I already have some ideas about which guys I’ll start with (suspense, teasing art of the www 2.5 ya know.)

Here’s a mandatory list for you:
